slaves – willing but unwanted

A blog by ©hinaman

and so the game of
“my slaves are better”
“no, my slaves are imported”
“no, no, my slaves are more famous than your slaves”
“no, no, no, my slaves will put more butts on the seats in the arena than your slaves”

began at 10.45 am IST at the historical Fort Aguada Resort Goa

the happy slaves

Andrew Flintoff for $ 1.55 million
Kevin Pietersen for $1.55 million
JP Duminy for $950,000
Tyron Henderson for $650,000
Mashrafe Mortaza for $600,000

Kyle Mills for $150,000
Thilan Thushara for $140,000
Dwayne Smith for $100,000
George Bailey for $50,000

as an after thought
Jerome Taylor for $150,000
and Mohammad Ashraful – I am told who has been found a master

they will all be led to the arena
to join the slaves from yesteryear and the dancing girls – to “entertain”

the slave market

but then there were also those who were dragged to the marketplace
willing
but remained

the unwanted slaves

sent back
to rejoin their ‘unglamorous’ team mates in the mundanes of the low-paid national nets
pretending it was no big deal to have been rejected,

and to keep their desire and greed burning
till next year

hopefully they have learnt the lesson that IPL is not about playing good cricket -
it is about entertaining in a circus

I’m pleased you didn’t call Brendon Nash a slave China :)

    Thanks legbreak,
but he was not on the list, was he?

besides this is the modern day slavery – slavery to $$$ in cricket
    - knows no distinction by color or race or religion or nation,
where the individuals gladly wears the collar and chain.

I know those who landed super deals will be overjoyed,
so happy that an innings defeat will simply slip off their backs.

My focus is on those who had turned their backs on their national teams,
and come to sell their cricketing souls – but found themselves they had misjudged their worth.

    Thanks for stopping by Ankit,

    I have no other description.
The ICL is also a big money affair, but the players are on fixed term salary contract. Not a marketplace -

how embarrassing it must be to have been returned as REJECTED –
    or should that be dejected?
