Welcome to the Players Journal.
I’m Popping Crease, but you can just call me T.
I’m a young man from England and a very active cricket player as i have been since the age of 5 (13 or so years ago). I’ve been asked to formulate my players journal here on Silly Points to share my experiences on the pitch (and everything that goes with it) with you, the reader.
I may sound young, admitedly I am! That does not mean i know nothing about Cricket and haven’t had heaps of experience. I’ve been on a cricket tour to Africa, i’ve represented my county at a younger age and i’ve won competitions, leagues and festivals whilst playing cricket with both older men and boys my own age. I’ve dreamed of captaining my country from the age of six or so although i have since realised i may not realisticly reach the target – if only i’d worked on it more at the vital age.
The season draws to an end but i still have matches remaining as i play both Saturdays and Sundays. I plan on sharing with you the events of these matches, the things i learn, the ways i can improve and my whole mental approach to the game and following it. I believe many can learn from my writings as learning from experience is key in this amazing game. I’ll find solutions to my mistakes and share them with you, i’ll give tips on things i find i have done succesfully or dealt with well. As matches aren’t on a constant supply due to weather and the annoying fact the cricket season has its boundaries as any pitch would i may also dwell on previous experiences and analyse them for your reading.
Popping Crease
About me: I’m an all rounder but made my name (so to speak) by spinning the ball, i also bat in the middle to top order at 3 or 4 having previously been an opener at a younger age. I’ve played for both school and club for years. I love cricket, it fuels my summer and has done since i was very young. I watch cricket on television as much as i can and play as much as i can. I admire Brian Lara, Graham Thorpe and Kevin Pietersen – i’d say i base my play on a bit of all three!
Welcome to the Players Journal here at The Silly Point;

Hi T,
I am already looking forward to your writing.
Cricket is also about sharing, we can all share your thoughts and experience.
I was a very average player, self-taught. I still sometimes reflect back on a few events and think – what if I had done it different.
I do not play anymore, but I have not stopped learning.
Best wishes for the journal and your own blog.
