photomontage of fielders at silly point

he can do it better

Much is being written about young Ajantha Mendis.

Ajantha Mendis - appeals

Much is also being said.
Not always correct.

Tony Becca described him as so in the Jamaica Gleaner, after the 2nd ODI in Ports of Spain April 2008.

Mendis bowls everything.

With a smile on his face as he caresses the ball before delivering it,
Mendis bowls the off-break,
he bowls the leg-break,
he bowls the googly,
he bowls the flipper,
he bowls a straight delivery,
he bowls them with different grips
and different actions,
he bowls them with a different trajectory
and at a different pace,
he disguises them brilliantly.

The result is that he mesmerises, or bamboozles, batsmen – as he did Chris Gayle and Daren Sammy on Thursday.

Add to this list his “carrom ball“.

If a third of this is true, he is a bowler who will torment many a batsman, as we are presently witnessing.
And for a long long time to come.

    Thanks for stopping by Nightwatchgirl.

I am sure there are many like you wishing he was their nationality.
Unfortunately for all of us he is definitely SriLankan. :(
