so what’s new? only the margin got bigger

The margin of defeat then was an innings and 90 runs.
Today it is an innings and 239 runs.

The winning SLteam

Am I surprised?
Not a bit.

I had said the writing had been on the wall for a while,
but the self-professed indian pundits on 606 had ridiculed my article.

This was a catastrophe waiting to be repeated.
Indian test cricket is dying, if not dead already.

Do not blame the players, blame the present management.
Ever since this management appointed Greg Chappell and Rahul Dravid in charge
the test team has been completely destroyed
by a megalomaniac coach
and a sycophantic captain
and left demoralised, disillusioned, fragmented and to die a slow death.

The Twenty20 win was the final nail in the coffin.
BCCI now understands only one format of cricket, one that makes the cash tills jingle.

The message was again clear
when Dhoni was allowed to pull out of test to rest after a busy schedule
that shamelessly included the million generating 16 IPL matches.
There must be other players
who may also have wished at heart to preserve their energy
for the money spinning forms of cricket.
Do we really expect them to care for test cricket anymore?

We had the batting line up to be able to prevent a defeat let alone such a big one.

I am not taking away anything from the Sri Lankan team.
Their brilliant performance has made the margin of victory acutely embarrassing for us Indians.

So embarrassing that hopefully the same pundits will see the writings this time.
Or maybe not.
