Dhoni’s youngsters did not win the CBS finals.
It was won for him by a 34 year old, a Sachin Tendulkar.
There is not one outstanding performance from any of his batsmen to crow about.
Neither any evidence that the ’seniors’ he dropped from the team would have failed.

He wanted Suresh Raina, for what? To block a place in the squad?
His wrong ‘instincts’ sidelined Manoj Tiwari for the rest of the series.
His has played politics to ensure his popularity, it was a senior who saved his pride.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni hopes India’s “significant” victory in the CB Series will silence those who criticised the youth-oriented squad selection for the tournament. Asserting his role in the selection of the young one-day side - he is India’s ODI captain - he said it was “sometimes very important to send the message across”.

“I was pretty clear about the players I wanted in the side,” Dhoni told Cricinfo in a revealing interview where he spoke about the selection controversy for the first time. “That’s what I said to the selectors as well. You can see the kind of team I got.”

The only message I get is he has become too big for his boots.
And an ego that is not much smaller than his mouth.

Now on, every single ODI he plays, he has to deliver.

As I have said before, one swallow doesn’t make a summer.
When his luck runs out, only the hard fall from grace will drive the message home.
