envy and prejudices, two stark realities of Indian cricket

Ganguly

Regardless of hasty cover up statements,
fact is, Ganguly was dropped inspite of being fit.

Ajit Wadekar has persistently criticised Ganguly whenever possible.

Ganguly selection debate rears head, yet again

“How does he fit into the team? There is Uthappa, then Gambhir has scored runs in Twenty20 and of course there is Sachin. His poor fielding is also one of the reasons youngsters deserve a chance,” opined former India captain and cricket manager Ajit Wadekar.

Because of his batting and his experience, you moron.

First it was his poor form,
then it was poor captaincy, lack of motivation, etc etc
now it is his fielding; as if every other player in the team are Jonty Rhodes.

Very clever Mr Wadekar, to use fielding as an excuse.
There are no statistics to prove or disprove.
No obvious comparisons.

But another former India batsman and cricket manager Abbas Ali Baig disputes the fielding theory. “It is ridiculous to talk about fielding, you should have known that before. He has to be there because of his experience and record against the Aussies. If he is fit there is no excuse not to play him,” said Baig.

With Gautam Gambhir struggling in the last two ODIs, former India opener and coach Anshuman Gaekwad values Gangulyâ?(tm)s experience at the top. “It may have been a combination thing, there is no indication in this. Sourav and Sachin with Rahul should be in the top three. The youngsters have done nothing and unless you have a good start there will be pressure on the middle order,” reckoned Gaekwad.

He couldn’t bat
because of rain in Bangalore,
he had injured himself out in Kochi
so keep him out at Hyderabad; so that the selectors would have an easier time.

Mr Wadekar
are you envious that inspite of your few success as captain,
Ganguly has been considered as the best Test captain in the last 75 years?
or is your regionalistic prejudices trying to prevent him from regaining captaincy?

Envy and regional prejudices has persistently harmed Indian cricket
why should you be any different?
