photomontage of fielders at silly point

pointless cricket

The Bangladesh v India test matches.

The only word that comes to mind is why?
Why have a full five day test in sweltering heat and heavy humidity?

Why risk the health of the players,
by making them slug it out for five odd hours a day for five days?

For what?
National pride?
Improving performance?
Or just to earn revenue from the paying public and media coverage and ads?
What shall we take away from this painful series when it is finally over?
Anything of any significance?

Successes will be mocked at as being against a ‘minnow’ on a flat track.
Failures against a ‘minnow’ on a flat track will be equally ridiculed.

It seems more like sending out gladiators into the ring
for the enjoyment of the spectators.
It is just pointless cricket.
