photomontage of fielders at silly point

so sorry, Mr Woolmer

It has been officially confirmed that Bob Woolmerâ?(tm)s
death is now being investigated as homicide.

Jamaican police has launched a murder inquiry into his death
which the autopsy has revealed to by due to asphyxia
from strangulation.
This is not just shocking any more,
it is sickening.

It makes my blood boil to think a person
who had dedicated his life to sport
could meet such a horrible end.

There will be numerous speculations in the media.
Eventually it will not be a surprise
if it is proved that it was in connection to match fixings.

Cricket has been in transition from a gentlemanâ?(tm)s game to a money making enterprise.
With big money at stake, it is bound to be taken over by criminals.

I sincerely hope the killers are brought to justice.
And severely punished.

Not just for the sake of cricket,
but for justice for Bob Woolmer
who obviously would not give in to the criminals.
So that his soul can be in peace.

Cricket was an amateurâ?(tm)s game when I was first introduced to it.
A true gentlemanâ?(tm)s sport.

Over the years it became a game for professionals only.
In the present world of consumerism,
TV adverts and viewing numbers and TV rights
it has become a business opportunity.

The professional cricketers have become
no more than paid slaves;
not just to the system
but also to the age-old human weakness,
greed for wealth.

The time is perfect now for criminals to join in,
when there are millions to be made
from the â?(tm)sportâ?(tm) of speculating results
and what better way than fixing numbers?

In future,
how can I ever believe
that the result of a match was honest
and not pre-determined?

Until and unless these killers are brought to justice,
cricket for me will have no attraction, no meaning.
