the return of a king: saurav ganguly

He was banished as a Prince.

Rejected, dejected, disillusioned and demoralised for nigh on 11 months. Persistently kept out by conspiring selector, coach and captain. Exiled to the domestic scene to ‘rot’.

Never lost his self-belief. His fighting spirit. Not just against his own gremlins, but also the harsh establishment. To return.

Boy, what a return. Not-out with the highest of the innings of 51 runs in 101 balls, with four 4s and the only 6 of the innings and a strike rate of 50.50. Nothing else needs to be said.

The Pretender is still on the thrown. The Prince lays claim for his crown, that was always rightfully his.

Real class will always shine through.
