Full Monty! – Just what the doctor ordered?

I wake up to read on the BBC Sports ‘Monty Panesar becomes the first English spinner to take a five-wicket haul in Perth as England grabbed the initiative in the third Ashes Test’ .

Monty 5-92 Perth.

That will come as a soothing relief to the English team, their army of barmy supporters in the Waca stadium and those sat in front of TVs and PCs.

Soothing no less effective than the Fremantle Doctor.

I am happy for Mr Panesar. He sat out the first two Tests, watching his team struggle to get 20 wickets. When (at last) given the opportunity to show his worth, he took 5 in 24 overs.

Let us not shift our focus from this brilliant achievement by deviating to the issues of his (de)selection for the previous Tests. We should also not forget that Mr Harmison found his form to take 4 for 48 in 19 overs.

Its now over to the English batsmen to carry on with what these two bowlers achieved on the field today.

Congratulations Mr Panesar, it was a long time coming.
