photomontage of fielders at silly point

welcome all

Having been able to start a blog site on my own, the computer ‘expert’ hidden deep in my inner psyche decided it was time to reveal itself to the cyberworld with cricket websites and discussion forums. So like a born-again IT enthusiast I became busy the last week learning how to start a website of my own.

It has been a humorous almost comical experience. An IT illiterate suddenly finding out that a web server was definately not a spider. That the other (real) function of the < and > keys was to write in a ‘new language’!! And that experience of being a forum moderator did not help in understanding the MODs (modifications) of a software programmes.

Eventually I looked upon a web site that said ‘site under construction’. A cricket web page that had a snowflake in its header (am yet to learn how to modify the graphics on the template).

Man, was I proud? I realised what a newbie architect may feel when they see only the bars and concrete of the foundations in place, waiting for the skyscraper to gradually reach up to the sky.

I had the forum finished and up and running last night. I was soooo excited I could not sleep. Kept looking at my computer (seemed) every 5 minutes to see if anyone had registered.

I was still awake when the SA v India ODI started. SA were 0/2 when I had the first member register. Soulberry, I knew him from the BBC TMS. I was so chuffed that I promptly fell asleep.

I wake up to Justin Kemp’s century and SA’s 274/7!!! Where did it again go wrong? Drat! now I have to stay up to watch the highlights. Still, I am the proud creator of a cricket discussion forum with a total membership of three (including myself).

My website may have less chance of surviving than a snow flake in this global warming, but do I care? What did I name the website? ‘the Silly Point’, of course.

The ‘position’ reserved only for the braves and/or the stupids.
