... the fielding position
The Silly Point is a fielding position in cricket. Found square of the wicket on the off-side, it's an important position for stopping forceful shots off the back foot like the square cut.
Most commonly used when a spin bowler is in action to snap up any bat-pad chances, it involves standing just a couple of yards from the batsman, square of the wicket on the off-side.
This is a position where one will usually find the best fielder in the team. They're often jumping around trying to protect themselves when the batsman plays the big shots.
As the name suggests, is not a great place to field.
... our community
we are from many cricket playing nations; an online community of cricket enthusiasts from beyond borders and without boundaries.
for "cricket without boundaries" - to promote the spirit of cricket, to make friends.
It started as a blogspage, and following the closure of the old BBC TMS forums we created our own bulletin board. We found many like minded cricket enthusiasts across all playing nations.
We made many friends, we talked great cricket. We maintained a clean site. A multination meeting point; free of bigotry, abuse and WUMming.
No ads, popups or spam.
We decided to join together as a ring of friends, and created our own cricket webring.
We have also been through our share of lows but we have survived.
and we are here to stay; like the fielder at a silly point we are a constant reminder ...
